Digitisation and collaboration in the Cloud

Released on 27. March 2018

Focussing on the customer is essential for survival in the digital age

Reducing internal costs, full traceability, accelerating and standardising processes: These are some of the reasons why Enterprise Content Management systems (ECM) are increasingly being moved into the Cloud. Guest Speaker Cheryl McKinnon, Principal Analyst, explains why this step into the digital age still leaves room for additional commercial benefits.

In our age of digitisation, businesses can only remain competitive and be successful in the medium and long term if they strictly focus on their customers according to our webinar guest speaker, Cheryl McKinnon, Principal Analyst at Forrester Research. In the course of a Fabasoft webinar on “Cloud Content Platforms”, the analyst talked about the issues that must be taken into account in the choice of the right Cloud solution. Private businesses and public organisations alike need to take their external stakeholders on board if they want to succeed in putting stronger customer focus into practice. This primarily concerns their customers, but also their suppliers and partners.

The extended digital organisation is the foundation on which to build innovative digital services relating to the sharing of content and collaboration with the help of the Cloud. Agility and speed are right at the top of the wish list when it comes to implementation - even before security or cost reduction, according to McKinnon.

User-friendliness is the key factor

Users will only accept these new and innovative services if they are implemented with the highest level of usability. Solutions for the B2B environment need to be as easy and intuitive to use as it is the norm in the B2C environment.

Advancing successfully in digital transformation requires more than digitising and automating existing business processes: It is also important to try out new ideas and break up structural rigidities.

“Businesses must set up a Cloud strategy that is primarily focusing on the needs of business users. This translates into speed of implementation, agility in further development and ease of collaboration with external persons”, says Andreas Dangl, Business Unit Executive Cloud Services at Fabasoft. “At the same time, important issues such as security, compliance, data protection and integrability with other systems must be addressed.” In a live demonstration, Dangl showed how the Fabasoft Cloud can be used as a digitisation platform to quickly help extend an organisation digitally towards its customers, partners or suppliers, and how to create innovative digital services within a matter of days to achieve added value for their own organisation.

Many businesses and public organisations are already using the Fabasoft Cloud. While many apps are instantly available in the standard version, additional solutions can easily be modelled if necessary. The time it takes to implement a solution is therefore dramatically reduced. At the same time, added value can rapidly be achieved for the business itself as well as for its customers, and the internal IT department no longer has to orchestrate several Cloud services to achieve boundless digital records management. The Fabasoft Cloud is certified according to the highest European standards with regard to security, data protection, transparency and compliance and is available as a Public Cloud service or a Private Cloud appliance.
