An issue has been identified in ESXi 5.0 and 5.1 where data corruption can occur when connecting a Windows 2012 guest using the default e1000e network adapter.
Due to this issue there is a higher chance of network errors leading to a possible data corruption in communication originating from virtualized servers.

As of writing this article one of the recommended solutions is to disable the TCP segmentation offload (TSO) in the Windows 2012 guest OS.
