Deleting local data via the Fabasoft Cloud client

Company data stored locally on mobile end devices may pose a potential security risk:
Let’s assume that you have employees who – true to the trend “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) – use the Fabasoft Cloud on their private mobile end devices at the company. What will you do about the data stored locally on the notebook if such an employee is leaving the company?
A different scenario: In the course of a theft, the laptop of an employee is stolen. How can you delete the synchronised data stored locally from the end device to prevent unauthorised access?

In situations such as these, the new feature “Deleting local data via the Fabasoft Cloud client” is of great use.
If an employee is leaving the company, a mobile end device is lost or if only some of the local data on a BYOD device need to be deleted, the administrator or the user can independently initiate the deletion of locally synchronised folders and data in the account settings’ “Synchronisation” area.

How to proceed

Via the account menu, Fabasoft Cloud users can display the synchronised workstations via the command “Synchronisation“. By clicking the “Delete data from workstation” button, the deletion process is initiated.

Organisation administrators can navigate to the respective member via the organisation. The action “Synchronisation” also displays the user’s synchronised workstations, which can be deleted correspondingly.

It is important to note that the deletion of the locally synchronised files is only initiated via the web client. As soon as the Fabasoft Cloud client connects to the server, the deletion is started.
Attention: Once the deletion command has been executed, it can no longer be cancelled.

Please note that this feature does not replace a Remote Wipe programme, but only deletes the Fabasoft Cloud data currently stored and synchronised on the mobile device.

It will soon be possible to eliminate data on iOS and Android devices in the same way. The mobile Fabasoft Cloud apps for Android and iOS will also support this function. Look out for new versions in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store unless your apps update automatically.
