Since 1892 ewz provides the city of Zurich and also parts of the Canton Graubünden with electric power. In total it supplies about 221.000 customers. To advance customer satisfaction and to comply to legal requirements ewz was looking for a software that allows to work with customer data according to an authorization concept.

Documents and files were registered in Canton Thurgau in a ten year old system that was no longer maintained. The objective of the project was to implement a new system that managed process-related documents, improved traceability and prevented loss of information.

Federal Strategy Unit for IT
The 1990s saw the increseing use of IT, PC and Internet resources in the Publick Administration sector. As a result, the Publick Coordination Centers had to deal with the harmonization of isolated legacy applications. In Switzerland, the Federal Strategy Unit for IT (FSUIT) has been confronted with the problem of defining a functional approach for request and performance features for a unified software platform for the Pulic Administration sector since 1999.
