Fabasoft's new version 7 is straightforward and elegant. The Linz based software producer presented its extended portfolio of standard software products at the Fabasoft What's New Briefing 7.0. Prior to this over 50 employees had invested what was in total thousands of days in research and development activities for the new Fabasoft products. More than 160 interested guests came to the event held at the Linz Design Center. Fabasoft employees presented the new developments and unique performance features of the software products in a number of speeches. The feedback from the attendees was exceptionally positive.

In their capacity as guest speakers Manfred Luidold and Günther Lehner from the Upper Austrian Provincial Government Office presented the successful specialist application integration at the Department of Housing Grants with the electronic file (ELAK). Eighteen members of staff in the department can now process the around 50,000 applications per year without time-consuming filing procedures or extensive archiving.

One significant new feature of Fabasoft eGov-Suite version 7 is the new PDF overview in which all the meta data and contents that are relevant for the case in question are displayed in a clear form. Bedsides a whole range of country-specific functional extensions (e.g. circulars, EDIAKT, I019) the Fabasoft eGov-Suite offers considerably optimised digital business processes through the integration of Fabasoft iArchiveExchange. Modern, user-friendly operation was demonstrated both with the new Web browser client based on AJAX and also with the new Windows client based on the Windows Presentation Foundation. The Windows client enables the mobile processing of the business objects and the processing of business processes without Internet access seamlessly, i.e. transparent for the user.

The new content governance software Fabasoft Folio 2007 administrates contents from organisations with regard to access protection, version administration, full text search, media management, high availability and transactional security. Fabasoft Folio 2007 provides use cases from the solution fields business process management, enterprise content management, knowledge management, records management and relationship management. Fabasoft Folio 2007 handles documents as a Single Instance Content Store; thanks to the calculation of a hash value, physically identical contents are stored only once in Fabasoft Folio 2007. The business advantage can be seen in the less storage space needed together with lower costs and better performance.

The email compliance archive for Microsoft Exchange, Fabasoft iArchiveExchange 2007, stores emails for the period of their legal relevance automatically and with legal compliance. Using this software optimises processes by relieving mailbox server infrastructure and also optimises costs as less expensive hard disk space is required. Fabasoft iArchiveExchange 2007 adds the field of mobility to the email compliance issue, making archived emails directly available to mobile workers as well in Microsoft Outlook.

Besides classic system management with Software Telemetry®, Fabasoft Operations Manager 2007 also offers unique opportunities of cross-application and cross-component application management. Fabasoft Operations Manager 2007 – indispensable for the professional operation of IT services – automates the Fabasoft software products, gives automatic notification if warning thresholds are exceeded and provides detailed information on the status of the capacity of the Fabasoft software products. Thanks to the world's first Software Telemetry® information is available via system technical contexts in end user use cases.

The use case oriented development environment Fabasoft DUCX (Digital Use Case eXecution) for Fabasoft Folio 2007 and the Fabasoft eGov-Suite permit the specification, implementation, automated testing and the documentation of document-oriented specialist applications, known as CEVAs (Content Enabled Vertical Applications). With Fabasoft DUCX the user is able to input commands for project and specialist application elements which are automated and transferred to the functionality of the system. This minimises the two largest IT project risks: the misunderstanding between prose specification and programming and the risk of exploding maintenance costs in individual developments.

Mindbreeze Enterprise Search offers an easy to use but powerful integration interface which makes it possible to link the application context to search results. In keeping with the slogan "Knowledge is a matter of seconds" the software finds the content being searched for in the context of the business. In the new version 3.0, context-based search in the deep Web has been added to Mindbreeze Enterprise Search.

In accordance with Fabasoft's "Strategy 100" the software products support both Microsoft Windows and Linux. The products build on the Fabasoft reference architecture, are available throughout the computer centre on 64-bit platforms and are thus scaleable in installations with 100 to 100,000 users. The new Fabasoft software product version is scheduled for release from the end of August.
